The total length of paved roads in Japan now reaches approximately 780,000 km. With growing traffic and logistics volumes, roads play an ever more important role as public assets supporting daily life and the economy, and their standard of maintenance improves year by year.
Against this background, maintaining paved roads more rationally and efficiently requires grasping road surface conditions accurately and in real time. The road surface profiling system of TONOX Co., Ltd. answers this social need.
Compared with the various manual surveys conducted conventionally, it achieves significant gains in speed and labor savings as well as improved safety, and it shows its true value particularly when collecting and processing large volumes of data quickly.
Vehicle Introduction: TX-Road System
Road infrastructure maintenance has become increasingly important, and detailed measurement is now needed not only on arterial roads but also on local roads. To meet this need, TONOX Co., Ltd. has developed "TX-Road System", a maneuverable one-box-van road measurement vehicle.
The "TX-Road System" is designed so that the sensor unit can be stowed during normal driving, and, running at 80 km/h day or night, it can detect cracks of 1 mm or more and rutting of ±1 mm or more. It has in fact been certified under the technical evaluation program for road inspection vehicles conducted annually by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
